GÖKOVA
The godly beauties of GOKOVA have been attracting people for thousands of years. Even its name is derived from the beautiful forests. The ancient name for GOKOVA is IDYMA. The name “IDYMA” has developed from the “luwishen” “id(a)uma” and means “forest people” .

Idyma is situated at the foot of the SAKAR mountains. “Sakar” comes from the “luwishen” “swa-kar” and means “beautiful, holy mountain”. The little river “azmak”, that flows into the sea at the fisher port, was named IDYMOS in hellenistic times.

The Gokova's mountainous Turquoise Coast is
known for it's rich history and secluded bays.

According to the legend: it's the place where Marc Anthony and Cleopatra vacationed, and which Anthony gave to Cleopatra as a wedding gift.

If someone was to claim that the most scenic vistas in Anatolia can be found on the coasts of the Aegean, he could not be accused of exaggerating. In the words of Heredotus, the Aegean coasts "have the most beautiful sky and the best climate in the world." The bays and peninsulas, coves and golden beaches stretch the length of these beautiful shores. In this region where the countless events of mythology took place, at almost every turn, you will encounter the theaters, temples and agoras of ancient cities.
